superCard by super.money: how the FD-backed card works, and what it costs

superCard is a credit card secured by a fixed deposit you keep with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, run through the super.money app. Your own savings secure the limit, which makes it cheap to hold and expensive to carry a balance on.

How the deposit works

From the MITC

“currently minimum 90% of the fixed deposit. The minimum deposit requirement shall commence at ₹100.” Any deposit booked for the card or a limit increase “shall be lien marked.” superCard MITC, 21-May-2026

If you do not pay

This is where a secured card is different. Interest on unpaid dues is 3.5% a month, 42% a year, since 21 June 2026, while the deposit behind the card earns ordinary fixed deposit interest. And the deposit is how the bank gets paid:

From the MITC

The bank “shall have the right to liquidate the linked fixed deposits and shall recover the Outstanding Dues on Card if it is not paid within 60 DPD (Days Past Due) or the total outstanding including accrued interest and fees reaches 95% of the Fixed Deposit amount, whichever is earlier.” superCard MITC

Cashback

The rules have moved both ways. On 11 August 2025 non-UPI cashback went from 0.5% to 1%, but UPI cashback fell from “up to 5%” to 1% with a ₹500 cap. The extra cashback on Myntra and Flipkart ran until 30 June 2026 and has not been extended in the published terms. Every dated change is on the card changes tracker.

What it costs

Who it suits

A card backed by your own deposit suits someone who is happy to lock up savings to secure a credit card, and who will pay the full bill every month. It is a poor place to carry a balance: at 42% a year, revolving costs far more than the deposit earns. Frequently asked questions

How much credit limit does superCard give?
The bank sets the limit from your profile, and you keep a fixed deposit with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank to secure it. The MITC says the limit is currently at least 90% of the deposit. Deposits start at ₹100, and you can raise the limit by adding to the deposit in the app.
What happens to my fixed deposit if I do not pay?
The deposit is lien-marked against the card. The MITC lets the bank break it to recover your dues if they stay unpaid 60 days past the due date, or once what you owe, with interest and fees, reaches 95% of the deposit, whichever comes first.
Does superCard report to CIBIL?
The MITC says that if the minimum amount due is still unpaid 3 days after the due date, the card is reported as delinquent to the credit information companies authorised by the RBI, and that a report cannot be withdrawn once made.
Is superCard free?
There is no joining or annual fee, but a physical card costs ₹249 plus taxes, or ₹99 plus taxes with a deposit of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, and nothing with ₹10,000 or more. Closing within 12 months can add charges.
How much cashback does superCard give on UPI?
1% on UPI payments of ₹100 or more made through the super.money app, capped at ₹500 a statement month. Before 11 August 2025 the terms offered up to 5% on UPI.

Card Fine Print is independent and not affiliated with super.money, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank or any card issuer. Figures come from the superCard MITC (version 21-May-2026), read 27 October 2026; they change, and the issuer's current terms always win. This is not financial advice.
