What earns no Scapia Coins, and where Scapia's own lists disagree
Scapia publishes no rewards terms. What it says about Scapia Coins is on its homepage and in its own article about the card, and the two list different exclusions. This page sets them side by side, in Scapia's words.
Quick answer
Rent, wallet loads, fuel, insurance, education fees, EMIs, cash, gift cards, crypto, forex transactions, your own card bill and card charges earn no Coins on either list. Utility bills are where Scapia disagrees with itself: excluded outright on the homepage, only above ₹20,000 a month in the article.

Utility bills: the contradiction that matters
The homepage excludes “utility bills like water, electricity, gas, internet, etc.”, with no limit. The article excludes only “utility & telecom bills above ₹20,000/month”, which implies smaller bills do earn. It does not say whether ₹20,000 is per bill or a month's total. The homepage does not mention telecom at all.
What we would assume
Until Scapia publishes terms, plan as if utility bills earn nothing, and treat any Coins that do arrive as a bonus. Utility bills earn nothing on most other app cards either: see which cards still reward bills.
Spends that cost money and earn nothing
Some exclusions also carry a fee under Federal Bank's terms: rent and wallet loads always, and utility and fuel spends once they pass ₹50,000 in a month. On those, the card costs you money and gives nothing back. The amounts are in what Scapia still charges.
Forex: zero markup, but Coins are unclear
Both lists exclude “forex transactions” and neither defines the phrase. It could mean buying foreign currency, or it could mean any spend in a foreign currency, which would include card payments abroad. The card's forex markup is 0% under Federal Bank's terms, so spending abroad costs no markup either way. Check a foreign transaction on your statement before counting on Coins for a trip.
How Coins are earned
Scapia gives two cards on one account, a Visa and a RuPay. In its article, the Visa card earns “10% Scapia Coins” on eligible spends, the RuPay card “5%” on eligible transactions of ₹500 or more, and bookings in the Scapia app “up to 20%”. It values Coins at 5 Coins = ₹1, with no minimum to redeem, and says Coins can pay for up to 100% of a booking in its app.
What Scapia does not say is what “10% Scapia Coins” means in Coins. If it means 10 Coins for every ₹100, that is ₹2 back on ₹100 at 5 Coins = ₹1, or 2%. That is our reading, not Scapia's statement: compare the Coins on a statement with that month's eligible spend before relying on it.

How Coins are earned
Per Scapia's article of May 26, 2026: Visa card "10% Scapia Coins" on eligible spends. RuPay card "5%" on eligible transactions of ₹500 or more (the same article calls them UPI transactions in another place). Travel booked in the Scapia app: up to "20%". 5 Coins = ₹1, with no minimum redemption and no cap on how many you hold, and coins can pay for up to 100% of a booking in the app. Scapia does not say what "10%", "5%" or "20%" means in coins, so none of them is a rupee return
Exact wording in the source
“May 26, 2026”
“Visa card: 10% Scapia Coins on eligible spends”
“On your RuPay card, you earn 5% Scapia Coins on eligible transactions of ₹500 or more.”
“RuPay card: 5% Scapia Coins on eligible UPI transactions of ₹500 or more”
“that goes up to 20%”
“20% Scapia Coins when you use the Scapia app”
“Scapia Coins have a fixed value: 5 Coins = ₹1. No fluctuating rates, no minimum redemption thresholds, no cap on how many you can accumulate.”
“you can cover up to 100% of a booking with Coins alone”
No rewards on transactions under ₹20 (under ₹500 on the RuPay card), payments of the Scapia Federal card's own bill, late fees and other card charges, ATM cash withdrawals, e-wallet loads, EMIs, fuel, rent, education fees, government and business payments, crypto, gift cards, insurance or utility bills. Also excluded: "forex transactions", which the page does not define, so it does not say whether card spends abroad earn rewards despite the card's zero forex markup

“Transaction value is less than ₹20”
“Transaction value is less than ₹500 on RuPay card”

Scapia's 26 May 2026 article lists: transactions under ₹20 on the Visa card and under ₹500 on the RuPay card, Scapia card bill payments, late fees and other card charges, ATM withdrawals, e-wallet loads, education fees, insurance premiums, EMIs, fuel, rent, forex transactions, crypto, gift cards, and utility and telecom bills above ₹20,000 a month
Sources disagree. Scapia's own pages disagree on utility bills: its homepage excludes them outright, while its 26 May 2026 article excludes only utility and telecom bills above ₹20,000 a month, without saying whether that is per bill or a monthly total. The homepage does not mention telecom. The article also drops government and business payments, and says "Fuel" where the homepage says "Fuel transactions and surcharge".
Exact wording in the source
“May 26, 2026”
“Transaction value less than ₹20 on the Visa card and less than ₹500 on RuPay Card”
Both are Scapia's own marketing pages, not card terms: the homepage, read on 28 October 2026, and the article dated 26 May 2026. Every Scapia fee and rule is on the Scapia card page. For why reward programmes keep adding exclusions, see the economics of card rewards.
Frequently asked questions
Does rent earn Scapia Coins?
No. Both of Scapia's lists exclude rent payments. Federal Bank's terms also charge a 1% convenience fee plus GST on rent paid with the card, so rent on Scapia costs money and earns nothing.
Do utility bills earn Scapia Coins?
Scapia contradicts itself. Its homepage excludes utility bills such as water, electricity, gas and internet outright. Its 26 May 2026 article excludes only utility and telecom bills above ₹20,000 a month, without saying whether that limit is per bill or a monthly total. Until Scapia publishes terms, assume utility bills may earn nothing.
Does fuel earn Scapia Coins?
No. Both lists exclude fuel; the homepage adds the fuel surcharge. Federal Bank's terms separately waive the 1% surcharge on fuel transactions up to ₹5,000, up to ₹500 a month.
Do I earn Scapia Coins on international spends?
Scapia does not make it clear. Both lists exclude "forex transactions" without defining them, so they do not say whether ordinary card spends abroad earn Coins. The card's forex markup is 0% under Federal Bank's terms either way.
What is the minimum transaction to earn Scapia Coins?
₹20 on the Visa card. On the RuPay card, transactions under ₹500 earn nothing.
What are Scapia Coins worth?
Scapia says 5 Coins = ₹1, and that Coins can pay for up to 100% of a booking in its app. It does not say how its earn rates ("10%" on the Visa card, "5%" on the RuPay card) convert into Coins, so the rupee return is not stated.
